TNT Pizza & Wings - Visit #1

All You Can Eat Wings; five words that always bring a smile to my face. And the fact that there are a couple of places in York that offer this deal makes me even happier. And in this installment of Wings of York, I'm going to talk about TNT Pizza & Wings, a local restaurant that offers All You Can Eat Wings on both Tuesday and Saturday nights! I went there for dinner a few weeks ago on a Saturday evening and decided to make a blog entry out of it. Each time you order, they bring you 6 wings of the flavor of your choice. On this visit I went with 3 different servings; Mild Buffalo, Citrus Chipotle and TNT House. I know I usually post pictures of the different wings I order, but the camera on my phone wasn't cooperating. Oh well, so other time. Now, on to the wings!

MILD BUFFALO

Very delicious sauce. Just the right amount of heat and spice, perfect for traditional Buffalo wing fans.

CITRUS CHIPOTLE

I was pretty disappointed with this sauce. It tasted just like a spicy BBQ sauce. No real hints of citrus at all.

TNT HOUSE

A pretty sweet tasting sauce. It's appearance reminded me a little of Italian dressing. I'd definitely try it again, but not after a strong sauce like the Citrus Chipotle.

As far as I'm concerned, you can never go wrong when presented with the option of All You Can Eat Wings. Even though I wasn't thrilled with 1 out of the 3 sauces I chose, it was still a good dinner overall. I'll definitely be back again. Keep an eye out for visit number 2 and consider giving them a visit either Tuesday or Saturday for their All You Can Eat Wing specials! See you next time!

Momo's - Visit #1(?)

Welcome back to another entry for Wings of York. Last week I decided to try a new place for wings, Momo's Pizza and Wings. Momo's is a small franchise in the area that sprang up over the last year or so. And after seeing they had a variety of 32 different sauces to try, I decided to pay them a visit. I went with two 10-piece orders of wings; One with mild sauce and one with Asian Style Orange "Juice". So, let's take a look!

MILD

These were OK. A little too strong on the butter flavor if you ask me though. Really overpowered whatever spice was present in the sauce in the first place. Low marks on this one.

ASIAN STYLE ORANGE "JUICE"

Flavor Description From The Menu: Like Chinese Orange Chicken? You'll love this sauce!

This sauce really disappointed me. I love Orange Chicken! But this sauce was a pretty bland offering. The first couple of wings were very flavorful. But then, the remaining wings seemed flavorless by comparison. I don't know if it was because they weren't evenly coated or what, but this sauce just didn't do it for me.

So, Momo's... I wasn't all that impressed with the place. I might try it again at some point. But I won't necessarily go rushing back. Maybe they'll pizza will impress me more. We'll see, I guess.

Arooga's - Visit #1

Welcome to the first blog post for "Wings Of York",  one man's quest to consume as many different types of chicken wings as possible in one city over the course of a year.

We start with lunch at a restaurant that's been around a little less than a year, but in that time easily became one of my favorite places to go for wings; Arooga's Grille House & Sports Bar! Now there may be some of you reading this blog that would say you've never heard of this place. Well, that's understandable. Arooga's is a franchise restaurant that is based and located in various cities in Central PA. It has a very extensive menu, but is most well-known for it's large variety of wing sauces. And since this is a blog all about wings, that's what we'll focus on.

Friday afternoon I decided to grab lunch at Arooga's and figured this would be a good chance to start this blog off properly. I ordered two 10-piece orders of wings; one with Buffalo Ranch sauce and the other with Coal Cracker sauce. So, let's take a look at them!

(Note: I apologize for the quality of the pictures, the lighting in Arooga's is pretty low. Next time, I might consider turning the flash on.)

BUFFALO RANCH

Flavor Description From the Menu: Our hot sauce with Super Ranch dressing mixed in.

This is easily my favorite flavor at Arooga's. The spices and ranch flavoring meld very well and don't over power one or the other. Plus it frees up some table room since you don't really need to have an extra cup of ranch dressing with you.

COAL CRACKER

Flavor Description From the Menu: Creamy hot sauce with cayenne pepper and spices.

It's kind of hard for me to evaluate this one. Probably because Coal Cracker was so close to Buffalo Ranch on the flavor/heat index chart in the menu. I couldn't really tell much of a difference. Needless to say, I think I'm going to have to revisit this sauce at another time.

This concludes the first entry here at "Wings Of York". I'll be keeping track of all the varieties of wings I've tried as well as the total numbers of wings I've eaten at the bottom of each entry. See below for said lists. Thanks for reading and please come back again for more saucy goodness.

...Yeah, I think I may need to work on a go home line. That was a really lame pun.
